Emma is one of those girls who can wield a sword and still look like a princess doing so. Emma was born in the Enchanted Forest to Snow White and Prince Charming but was instantly sent through a magical wardrobe that transported her to the land without magic. There, she grew up as an orphan, being transferred from foster home to foster home. At the age of eighteen, she finally got out of the system and met a man named Neal, who she befriended after stealing his stolen car. The two of them had a child, Henry, who was born in jail after Neal abandoned Emma and let her take the blame for his crimes. Emma gave Henry up for adoption and he was adopted by the mayor of Storybrooke, Regina Mills. Ten years after she gave her son away, he found her and took her to Storybrooke, claiming that Emma was the savior who would bring back the happy endings of fairy tale characters. Emma was skeptical of his entire theory until his evil adopted mother poisoned him with an apple turnover. Emma woke him up with true love's kiss and broke the curse. Shortly after, magic was restored to Storybrooke and a whole new life started for the sheriff.
