Henry walked into Granny's about 9 a.m. on this windy Tuesday morning, knowing he was supposed to be at school, he felt he deserved a day off after all the madness that had been going on lately. He grabbed a booth toward the back of the diner and sat so that he was facing the door, just so he could keep an eye on who might possibly see him. He grabbed a copy of the news paper after ordering some breakfast and held it up in front of him, hiding his face as he read the daily comics.

Regina had been about ready to take her order and leave, when someone caught her eye. She turned around and found that, near the back of a diner, was someone hiding themselves behind a newspaper. A small, sad smile eased her lips upwards. She knew of only one person who would do such a thing. Her Henry. Regina walked over a bit hesitantly, eyes peeled for the Charmings or Emma. She knew they wouldn't appreciate it if she was going to see her son. But that was the thing. He was her son. They couldn't keep him away from her for forever, even Robin Hood had said so. "Good morning, Henry," Regina said and offered her son a smile. She hoped he had gotten over the fact that she'd almost killed him. She certainly wanted to mend their broken relationship and she hoped her son felt the same way.

That voice. He recognized it instantly and he lowered the paper from in front of him to see his mother's soft smile. It had been a few days since he last saw her and deep down he missed his mother, though recent events made him question their relationship. Still, he loved his mother nonetheless. "Good morning, mom." He smiled back, slightly tilting his head. "What are you doing here? I thought you'd be at work already..."

"There's not much to do in this town lately, for me anyways," Regina said and with one last glance around she sat at the booth with her son and offered him another smile. It warmed her heart to hear his voice, to hear him call her his mother. In those last few days she had missed every ounce of him. "Henry, I'm really sorry for everything I've done. I truly am and I'm trying to change for you."

He grinned when she sat down, it was nice that he finally got to talk to his mom without anyone else around to throw in their unnecessary opinions. As he listened to her words, his mind wandered to the memories they had created long before he even thought about finding Emma. "I know you are mom. I believe you and forgive you. But you should really stay away from magic...It brings out a side of you that," He paused and looked down at his hands that were placed on the table, then his gaze came back up to you, "scares me. I don't want to be afraid of you, you're still my mom and I love you." He hated to say those words because he didn't want to hurt his mother's feelings but it was the truth. And if they were to try and mend what was broken, honesty was the only way.

The past few days, Regina couldn't recall a time when she had used magic. That was good. Perhaps she could break her habits, for him. He was right, after all. It brought out a monster she tried to keep caged. At his words, she smiled, doing her best not to feel too hurt. He was only being honest, and openness was a good start. "I love you too, my little prince," she said. "I'll try my very hardest not to use magic. You're right Henry. It does do something to me."

When she called him her little prince, it warmed his heart. He knew he was his mother's everything and that made him happier than he could ever be. "If you have to use it, maybe you should use it for good and not evil." He slightly tilted his head at the suggestion, curious as to what her response was. He only wanted his mother to be happy and maybe being one of the good guys would help her to be happy.

"I will," she responded. Regina definitely wanted to be good. She was tired of being unhappy because she was evil and deep down, all those evil things she did made her feel terrible about herself. A change for the better would be nice for her and everyone around her too.

He grinned, happy at her response. "I believe in you. I know you can do it." His food arrived and as Ruby placed it in front of him, he thanked her and looked back at his mother. "Why don't you stay and eat breakfast with me?" Throughout all the chaos, he still missed his mother's presence and the little things they used to do together.

His belief in her warmed her heart and she could basically feel herself melting when he asked that she stayed to eat breakfast with him. She looked down at the box she'd set on the table which she had been planning to take home with her and instead opened it up to a serving of apple pancakes. "I'd love to eat with you," she said. After a moment of silence, she looked up from her food and asked, "So, what's been going on? How's Emma and the Charmings?"

He was glad she decided to stay, "It's okay. A bit crowded but I guess we're managing." He gave a slight grin before taking a bite of the waffle that was laying on his plate. Once her finished chewing, he looked at his mother, "How are you?"

"Crowded is better than lonely," Regina responded and her gaze shifted to her plate for a moment before looking up at Henry and offering a not-so-reassuring smile. "I'm alright."

The tone in her response worried him a little, he couldn't help but wonder if it was a mistake to be living with Emma and the Charmings while leaving his mother in that house alone. Instead of asking a question he knew he wouldn't get a whole answer to, he got a better idea. "Mom," He looked up at her, "can I stay with you tonight? Emma's going to be working and I think David and Mary Margaret have a date night tonight. I kinda don't want to be alone."

Regina's head snapped up at her son's words, utterly shocked. She had told herself for a few days now that Henry would never be her son the way he had been for the past ten years, and maybe he wouldn't, but this was definitely one step to prove her theories wrong. "I'd love it if you came over," she responded, perhaps letting too much excitement in her voice. "I've missed you so much Henry."

"I've missed you too, mom." He softly grinned, knowing how happy he must've just made his mother. He began to eat his food again, content with his plan.
